How your Data is Stored and Protected

Data Storage and Protection Policies

At Shade we take your data storage and protection seriously. To this end, we have numerous policies in place to ensure that your valuable data is stored in a secure and recoverable manner.

Automated Data Backups

To ensure that files and projects are recoverable in the event of a crisis, Shade performs encrypted automatic backups of your data to several different storage platforms, so in the event of a crisis your files will always be recoverable. This ensures that we always have at minimum 3 copies of data stored.

File Deletion

In the event of file deletion, our backup system maintains a seven-day retention period, allowing for quick recovery of accidentally removed data. The backup process is fully automated and monitored through our alerting system, with any backup failures immediately triggering notifications to our security team.

AI Usage

Shade optionally uses AI models to automatically index your data. You can easily control which folders are indexed by our models inside of the app itself by simply selecting folders and excluding them from AI. A full list of these folders can be seen at a drive level. Additionally, your data is never used for training purposes and is always encrypted. Our full data use and AI policy can be found here.
